Medical School Alumni Gathered In DC to Meet Dean Neilson
Thirty-five Northwestern University medical school alumni and guests gathered in Washington, D.C., on October 16 to attend a Sunday brunch hosted by the Medical Alumni Association at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel. The featured speaker was none other than the new Lewis Landsberg Dean of the medical school, Eric G. Neilson, MD. The event gave alumni in the region the opportunity to meet and talk with Dr. Neilson for the first time.

“Having now been at the medical school for about six weeks, and having met many of you this morning, I’m re-affirmed in my decision to come to Northwestern,” said Dr. Neilson. The new dean spoke about his initial impressions of the medical school as well as some thoughts on directions for growth. (See the Dean’s Message for more details.)
Among those in attendance was Bob McQuinn, the new vice president of Alumni Relations and Development at Northwestern University, who was in town with the university’s President Morton Schapiro for other meetings on the same weekend.

Following the brunch, attendees had the opportunity to view the White House South Lawn Garden, which is only open for tours two weekends a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. Northwestern alumni and guests had a sunny day to walk through the beautifully landscaped lawns with many green shrubs and plants.
This was the first of many planned gatherings around the country that will connect medical school alumni with the Dean. Stay tuned to find out about future events.
